According to a 2018 survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 95% of children 13 to 17 years old report having access to a smartphone, and 45% of that same group claim to be “online constantly.” A recent New York Times investigation into online gaming found horrific examples of child predators luring and grooming children through online gaming platforms. Many parents are surprised to learn that four in ten online gamers are over the age of 35.

The e-book covers seven areas of online safety that parents may not be aware of: cyberbullying, privacy, online gaming, online “friends,” secret accounts, oversharing, and access to pornography.

Additionally, the e-book includes a list of fifteen apps that law enforcement suggests parents are aware of, provides tips on talking to children about sexting, and an Electronic Device Agreement which may help parents and children better define boundaries and expectations pertaining to usage of Internet-enabled devices like smartphones, tablets, and gaming consoles.
