Who We Are:
The Blue Hen Veterans is a Student Veteran Organization at the University of Delaware, and the Friends are just that - friends (both civilian and military) of the Blue Hen Veterans, who share our goal of empowering disabled military veterans and first responders through athletic endeavor. This year our friends include members of the UD community (ROTC, alumni) as well as friends and fellow veterans in the Delaware region.

Why We Ride Each Year:
On April 28 - 30 2017 the Blue Hen Veterans and Friends will participate in the Face of America ride – a two-day event in which riders cycle 120-miles from the Valley Forge to the battlefields of Gettysburg PA.

The purpose of the ride is to honor those who have been injured while in service to the nation (e.g. military and first responders) and to raise money for adaptive sports events run by the non-profit organization, World TEAM Sports.

What makes this event unique is that it is all-inclusive, meaning that able-bodied participants ride alongside those who are using adaptive equipment because of disabilities.  Further, all riders with disabilities participate at no cost.

The money collected through donations and sponsorship is used to cover their expenses, including travel, meals, lodging, and special equipment if needed.
