Out and About

Come join us for one of our monthly activities!
ExpO has a standing bowling outing the last Saturday of every month from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Lanes in Newport, DE.

Other monthly activities include mini-golf, hiking, museums, dining and visiting local and regional attractions. Last year, we rented a bus to visit museums in Washington, D.C. We have attended special exhibits at the Franklin Institute and plan a trip to Philadelphia next spring to the Mutter Museum.

We strive to offer a variety of activities to meet diverse interests. This fall, we received a tutorial in disc golf from experienced players and had a great time playing together at White Clay Creek State Park. For several years now, we also have come together to make a meal for residents at Sojourner's Place.

Expanding Options, Inc. (ExpO) is a 501 (c)3 non-profit serving the needs of a diverse community of adults
18 years and older to improve their quality of life and expand options for them and their families.

ExpO was started in 2017 by parents and caregivers to provide a social outlet where post-high-school adults can meet for fun activities and work together to improve skills they need to flourish in work and in life.

Monthly meetings the first Thursday of every month are held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Christ the Cornerstone Church in Elsmere, DE. Concurrent meetings for caregivers and adults focus on issues specific to each group. The groups meet together for seasonal parties and subjects of mutual interest. Topics can range from advocacy and housing, social and job skills to game nights and presentations by representative of service organizations.

ExpO is currently based in New Castle County, but interest by people in Kent County has led us to look at opportunities to start another ExpO chapter there.
