Get low-cost vaccinations, microchipping and more at DHA’s Vaccination Clinics. Clinics are held throughout the year at DHA’s animal care and adoption center in Wilmington, DE. All vaccinations are administered by a licensed veterinarian.

DHA’s Pet Food Pantry was created to help members of our community who are having trouble taking care of their pets. Our goal is to help keep pets in their homes and reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters for financial reasons.

The primary focus of the pantry is collecting food and supplies (e.g. canned and dry food, cat litter) for cats and dogs and distributing them to those in need. We ask that items donated specifically for the pantry be new and unused, and that food containers be unopened.

The pantry is operated on the honor system; recipients are not required to show proof of income to determine eligibility. Donation drop off and distribution takes place at DHA’s animal care and adoption center on A Street in Wilmington during the following hours:

Tuesday through Friday – 11 am to 7 pm
Saturday and Sunday – 11 am to 5 pm

What is the DHA Clinic?

Located at the Henrietta Johnson Medical Center (HJMC) in Wilmington, Delaware, the free clinic is held the first Saturday of every month from 9 am to 12 pm. Through the support of the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) and under the direction of Drs. Kristin Jankowski and Carla Andrews, a group of enthusiastic veterinarians and veterinary technicians from clinics in the greater Wilmington and Philadelphia area join student volunteers from PennVet and the University of Delaware to provide free vaccinations, wellness exams, and health screenings for income qualified members of the Wilmington community. The clinic serves to inform owners about the interconnectedness and profound impact that their pet’s health has on their personal, their family’s, and their community’s overall health. In hosting the clinic at a human medical center, our hope is that pet owners will also be inclined to seek health advice and services for themselves. Through sponsorships, donations, and support from DHA, we are able to provide the services free of charge!

With your support, DHA is working hard to reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs by providing low cost spay and neuter services to the public. We believe in spaying and neutering (also known as “fixing”) as a moral imperative, and all our animals are surgically altered before they are adopted. Millions of cats and dogs are euthanized each year because there are not enough homes for all of them. You can be an important part of the solution and help your pet live a happier, healthier, and longer life.

In addition to spaying and neutering, DHA offers other related services at the time of surgery, including low cost vaccinations, testing for Feline Leukemia/AIDS, testing for heartworms (dogs only), microchipping, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and more.
