Hunter's Moon

Our first farm-to-table dinner was a huge success!

News ~ Nov 11, 2019 16:25  pm
The Delaware Agricultural Museum’s “Hunter’s Moon” first in a series of farm-to-table dinners, was a huge success with a sold-out crowd of 106 satisfied diners in attendance.

Held on Tuesday, October 22, the dinner showcased the rich bounty of Delaware agriculture amid the beautiful elegance of the Hunter’s Moon motif. The guests enjoyed entrees prepared by Lighthouse Catering chef, Paul Buchness, a selection of seasonal craft brews from Fordham and Dominion Brewery and wines from Harvest Ridge Winery. A surprise highlight of the evening for the supportive gathering was a ceremony thanking long-time Delaware Agricultural Museum volunteer and civic leader, Mr. Gene Carlisle, for his Adopt-A-Building donation in the amount of $25,000 to address long-term preservation needs associated with historic St. Thomas Methodist Episcopal Church (ca. 1857). Gene is a long time volunteer and much beloved member of the Ag Museum family. Here is his bio (as supplied by Gene) for those who would like to know a “little” more about him:

“I am a native Delawarean. I live 4 blocks from the house where we lived when I was born. In other words, I have lived in Felton all my life.”

The Delaware Agricultural Museum Board of Trustees, Staff and Volunteers extend our sincere thanks to Gene Carlisle, “a man of few words and many big deeds”.

A Farmer's Christmas

Come see the Museum transformed into a vintage holiday wonderland!

News ~ Nov 11, 2019 16:18  pm
The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village is transformed into a vintage holiday wonderland as we proudly present:   'A Farmer's Christmas'.

Visitors of all ages  will enjoy the all sights, sounds and scents of the holiday season.  New to the event this year are fresh wreaths for sale and fire drums for roasting marshmallows!!

In our main museum, young visitors can try their hand at a variety of holiday crafts such as paper quilling, bead wreaths and yarn dolls.  Everyone will enjoy sipping hot mulled cider while listening to a variety of holiday musical performances and observing artisans demonstrating their crafts.   Take a stroll down the “Avenue of Trees” and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Step back in time as you enter our 1890’s village and experience the holidays in a Victorian era rural setting where carolers sing traditional Christmas music and the aroma of fresh baked cookies streams from the farmhouse kitchen.  Watch a blacksmith making tools in the blacksmith shop.  And, last but not least!  Send a letter to Santa via telegraph in the train station!

Museum members admitted free; nonmembers pay regular museum admission ($3 to $7)
