Hello Cape Henlopen Senior Center Members. We have completed our financial budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018. While the budget will be challenging to achieve, we are excited to have received our full Grant In Aid Delaware State funding as well as a new Delaware State Aging Grant this year. This additional funding will help us achieve this year’s financial goal. However, to achieve our full financial goal, we will still need to raise almost $50,000 through fundraisers over the next 9 months. The center staff and board of directors are hopeful we will continue to receive strong support from the business community, the nonprofit community, Rehoboth Beach residents and from you, our members. Your support is critical to our continued ability to serve you through our programs at the Cape Henlopen Senior Center. Dear Members: It has come to my attention that there is a misconception among some of our members that we are about to build a new Senior Center. This impression requires some clarification. CHSC has established the Hebron Steering Committee to investigate and research all aspects of the terms and conditions of what we can and cannot do with the property that was donated to us twelve years ago. This committee is charged with providing to the Board of Directors a list of possible options. As chairman of this group, I can report to you that we have successfully procured legal advice that has clearly defined the options available to us. We are also seeking a professional appraisal on the value of the property. The committee will soon be presenting a full report to the Board with a list of options to be considered and the Board, in turn, will make the options available to you, our members, for your input. Please understand, whatever plan moving forward is decided upon will take time, money, and a great deal of expertise and involvement from many areas.
