We Need Your Help!

Volunteers desperately needed!

News ~ Oct 28, 2019 17:05  pm
Dear Friends,
We are in DESPERATE (not an exaggeration) need of Clinic Volunteers in Trainer, PA.

This is an opportunity to help cats whose ONLY medical treatment during their lifetime may be when they go to our clinic. Volunteering at the clinics is an important and serious undertaking and we are looking for the few ready to make the commitment.

Clinic volunteers need to commit to one specific day a week at the clinic. The reason for this is that we are dealing with the lives of the cats and we need to make sure that our volunteers know the clinic procedures and this can only be done by volunteering on at least a once a week basis.

We will train. No medical background required.

We also have a need for Cat Care volunteers and we would like our Cat Care volunteers to commit to once a week, but there is more leeway here.

Our needs are as follows:

Clinic Volunteers needed Mondays. Start time between 9:30 am and 10:30 am. You will volunteer for ½ day or one full day. The work will be in the clinic.

Cat Care Volunteers are needed every day of the week. Volunteer time is about 3 hours. Start time is flexible. Basic feed and clean of shelter cats and cats awaiting or recovering from surgery.

If you or someone you know is interested in these volunteer positions, please email us at info@forgottencats.org and also include a contact phone number.

What is TNR?

Learn how you can help our local feral cat populations!

News ~ Oct 28, 2019 16:54  pm
TNR ("Trap, Neuter, and Return") involves humanely trapping feral cats living in cities, towns and rural areas and transporting them to a veterinary clinic where they are spayed or neutered. They may also receive a health check, vaccinations, and can be treated for routine medical conditions.

After surgery, the cat recuperates for a day or two and is then returned back to his colony habitat where caring individuals provide food, water and shelter. (Kittens and tame cats are moved into foster homes where they are loved and nurtured until they are well enough to be adopted.) Since the cats are no longer reproducing, the colony will gradually diminish in size. By reducing or eliminating mating, fighting and wandering, TNR makes the colony more stable, impacts the influx of newcomers, and improves the health of the cats.

Cat of the Week: Zorba

Meet Zorba today at the Brandywine PetSmart!

News ~ Oct 28, 2019 16:49  pm
Two year old Zorba (FCID# 05/23/2019 - 8) is such a sweet and funny guy!

He is very affectionate, extremely playful, energetic and he has a gigantic personality. He loves playing with toys - especially those with movement and he loves when you play with him. He enjoys relaxing in a window box watching birds and squirrels. His big, beautiful eyes and his playful, affectionate and charming personality make him a perfect cat.

Zorba would likely do best in a home with playful young cats, or by himself if his humans are ready to play with him often. He is currently at Brandywine PetSmart. If you'd like to meet him, stop by the adoption center at Brandywine or submit a no-obligation adoption application and we will contact you!
