Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR)
Founded in 1927, Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) is one of only a few freestanding, hospital-associated biomedical research centers in the United States. As the research center for Lankenau Medical Center and Main Line Health, which serve the western suburbs of Philadelphia, LIMR conducts laboratory-based and clinical investigations in a tightly knit, multidisciplinary community of scientists, nurses and physicians.

Clinical Trials
Central to clinical research is the clinical trial, a research study that tests how new medications, detection or diagnostic tools, or devices work in humans. Our multidisciplinary research teams offer a variety of trials for cancer, cardiac and other patients, providing Main Line Health patients access to potential new treatments, cutting-edge healthcare choices and the opportunity to advance medical knowledge.

Institutional Review Board
The Office of Research Affairs (ORA) is structured to facilitate the review process of human subject research by the MLH IRB. We are a resource for navigating the realm of regulatory compliance and fostering the ethical conduct of human subject research within the MLHS research community at large.

Sharpe-Strumia Research Foundation of Bryn Mawr Hospital
The mission of the Sharpe-Strumia Research Foundation is to encourage and support the conduct of medical research by practicing physicians on the medical staff of Main Line Hospitals with preference given to physicians whose primary hospital affiliation is the Bryn Mawr Campus, and to research which relates to identified clinical initiatives at the Bryn Mawr campus and Main Line Hospitals.

From breaks, sprains and strains to arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement, our orthopedic team is here for you. The Joint Replacement Program includes a comprehensive array of pre- and post-operative services that emphasize wellness and maximize patient recovery efforts through patient education, goal setting, family involvement and group interaction.

Today’s medical care demands the latest technology and Paoli brings it to your first. Paoli Hospital is proud of its investment in the state-of-the-art da Vinci® Surgical System. This advanced robotic-assisted technology allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures to treat a variety of medical conditions, with significant advantages over traditional "open" surgeries. Advanced technology is the hallmark of our radiology services. PET/CT, MRI, CT scan, DEXA scan and ultrasound are available on the hospital campus and at our outpatient centers in Exton and Collegeville.

The list of innovative programs and services is endless. Our Wound Center with hyperbaric chambers is helping diabetics and others who have hard to heal, severe wounds, the Sleep Center is expanding to meet the increasing needs of our community, and the Hattersley Family Centered Maternity Unit had nearly 2,300 babies born in our private birthing suites.

Paoli has received national awards of recognition for its care. Our nurses, along with the nurses at Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr, Riddle and Bryn Mawr Rehab hospitals, are Magnet nurses. What does that mean? It is the nation’s top nursing honor and only five percent of the country’s nursing staff has earned that distinction. Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
Our board-certified allergy, asthma and immunology experts have extensive academic backgrounds with advanced training in internal medicine or pediatrics, experience in designing and conducting clinical studies in asthma and rhinitis, and publications in medical literature.

Anesthesiology
No one wants to be in pain. Whether you’re having a minor procedure or complex surgery, the anesthesiology specialists at Main Line Health are experts at controlling your pain.

Blood Management
The Blood Management program located at Lankenau Medical Center is one of only a few in the region, offers treatment plans that are tailored to each patient based on medical needs and personal preferences.

Breast Cancer Program
Serving the Philadelphia region with advanced breast cancer treatment and therapies, and coordinated, compassionate care from screening through survivorship.

Cancer Program

Cardiac Arrhythmia Program
For our patients with heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, our experienced team of electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons and advanced practitioners will work together to develop a treatment plan just for you.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Of patients who have completed cardiac rehabilitation at a Main Line Health facility, 95 percent show improvement in functional ability and 100 percent of patients report overall improvement in their quality of life.

Cardiac Surgery Program
At the core of our cardiac surgery program are internationally renowned specialists who are leaders in this field. Our expertise spans the full spectrum of cardiac surgery and includes groundbreaking applications of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques.

Cardio-Oncology Program
Lankenau Heart Institute cardiologists with expertise in cancer-related heart problems are working with oncology colleagues across Main Line Health to coordinate cancer treatment with heart care.

The Celiac Center at Paoli Hospital is the first in the Philadelphia suburbs to help those with celiac disease manage and embrace the gluten-free lifestyle.
