Do you possess teaching or education experience? Do you have a working knowledge of the special education system? Or do you have familiarity with the child welfare system?

If so, becoming an Educational Surrogate Parent (ESP) may be just the right match for you!

A volunteer ESP advocates for appropriate special education services for a child in the foster care system. An ESP works closely with a school team, therefore, an ESP must feel comfortable working with educators and other professionals, and be available to volunteer during the school day.

Upcoming ESP Training’s are open to any community member interested in volunteering as an Educational Surrogate Parent (ESP).

The Down Syndrome Association of Delaware is excited to offer a weekly exercise class for teens and adults with Down syndrome ages 14 and older on Saturdays from 11:30am-12:15pm! First-class will be January 11th!

FIT -N- FLEX
Fitness classes are high energy and designed to promote perseverance, determination, and optimism. Each class is 1 hour and will focus on specific exercises to increase muscle strength and endurance. The class will include a warm-up, weight training, cardio conditioning, and imbalance corrective exercises.
Program Focus :
· Identify Muscle imbalances and correction
· Cardiovascular conditioning
· Improving Balance
· Specific movement training to target Hypotonia
· HAVE FUN!!!

Anyone interested in trying the program can come for a free trial class. After that class, we will be offering a month pass for $40.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore’s newest program will offer respite grants to families who are caring for a child under 18 with mental or behavioral health issues. The program is funded through the Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services (PBHS). The Child and Adolescent Caregiver Respite application period is open now along with their other respite grant programs.
